Visiting the website

When you open a page, our web server processes the access data that is technically required: date and time, the address requested, the status code, the amount of data transferred, the browser identifier and the IP address.

The IP address is shortened before it is written to the access log: IPv4 addresses lose their last field, IPv6 addresses are cut to their first three blocks. After that, it can no longer be linked to a person. The logs are deleted after 14 days.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website.

Cloudflare

The website is delivered through the network of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Cloudflare protects the website against attacks and overload and processes the access data of each request, including the IP address, on our behalf. This may involve a transfer to the USA. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is fast delivery of the website with protection against attacks.

What this website does not do

• No cookies, no local storage, no recognition of returning visitors.
• No analytics or advertising services, no social media buttons.
• No content from third-party servers: fonts, images and scripts are served by us.
• No forms and no newsletter.

The small surprises on the home page run entirely in your browser. They store nothing and send nothing.

Emailing us

If you write to us, we process your message and your sender details in order to answer your enquiry (Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). We delete the message once the matter is settled, unless a statutory retention obligation applies.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object to processing. An email to the address above is enough.

You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. Ours is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia, Kavalleriestraße 2-4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany.
